Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account details. If you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and display name. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google).
• Content you save. Quotes you favorite and the quotes you’ve viewed are stored so your Saved list and history follow you across devices. When you’re signed in, these are synced to Cloud Firestore (Google) under your account; when you’re a guest, they stay on your device.
• On-device preferences. Settings like your theme (Tan / Dark Brown), daily-reminder time, and whether you’ve completed onboarding are stored locally on your device.
• Diagnostics. If the app crashes, we receive an anonymous crash report through Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to help us fix problems. These reports are not used to identify you.
• Photos (only when you ask). If you save a quote image, the app writes that single image to your photo library. We never read or browse your photos.

What we do not collect

• No advertising identifiers and no third-party ad networks.
• No cross-app or cross-site tracking (we do not use App Tracking Transparency because we don’t track).
• No location data.
• No contacts, microphone, or camera access.

How we use your information

Strictly to run the app: to sign you in, to keep your saved quotes and history available across your devices, to send the daily reminder you set, and to diagnose crashes. That’s it.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device at the time you choose. You can change or disable it any time in the app or in your device settings.

Where your data lives

Account and synced content are stored with Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Crashlytics). Sign-in providers (Google, Apple) process your credentials when you choose them. Each of these services handles data under its own privacy policy.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You’re in control:

• Sign out at any time to remove your synced data from that device.
• Delete Account (Profile → Delete Account) permanently removes your account and the quotes and history associated with it.

You can also email us to request access to or deletion of your data.

Children’s privacy

Before Us is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date above.
